The Encounter Africa Exhibit is a 2-phase project which includes multiple structures and features.  Phase 1 includes retaining walls, an elevated walkway over the elephant demo yard, shift barriers and a state-of-the-art elephant barn, supported on a concrete foundation.  Phase 2 includes a lion holding viewing exhibit, elephant demonstration yard and shelter, Iife-support building, shotcrete pools, animal care and public viewing areas. The structural design accommodates the relatively steep topography by integrating the new exhibits with the existing site retaining walls and site features.
