Training Facility Addition
Location: Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion on the University of Washington Campus in Seattle

A steel-framed, concrete on metal decking mezzanine was added to the existing 1920s Hec Edmundson Pavilion. The mezzanine addition is less than 5% of the building mass, but due to possible localized overloading of existing load transfer mechanisms, the mezzanine was designed with its own lateral system. The lateral system was designed to reduce the story drift and a seismic separation was included between the new mezzanine and existing structure. The new 4,260 square foot center includes a team lounge, offices, kitchen and locker rooms as well as a large putting green and hitting areas with video and simulator equipment.
