The Feline Building, which houses the Asian Highlands Exhibit, required the renovation and expansion of a facility from a traditional caged display to a modern native habitat display. To achieve this, the viewing area was moved from the interior of the building to the exterior and one-third of the existing structure was removed. Animal display areas were enclosed with stainless steel mesh instead of bars. A bridge spanning over a pedestrian path connects the tiger display area and holding pen to a forested area with a pool. Four buildings and two large dining shelters were also built near the Feline Building. The dining shelters are log structures constructed using traditional joinery and seismic hardware.
